Se7en

Cade is really starting to earn big boy status. Check him out just last week, for the first time in a shopping cart and in one of those restaurant high chairs. These are the perks one experiences when one learns how to sit up on one's own.

Seven months have passed now, and Cade's got two teeth to show for it. Both on the bottom, and both giving him a lot of pain as they poked through his gums. But once the pain is gone, Cade always returns to his smiley self.
Thank goodness because his grin brings big smiles to the rest of our faces.

As you scroll down through these month-by-month pictures, I hope you can scroll through your own moments in life and find something or someone who brings as many big smiles to you as well.

'Tis the Season

This will be Cade's first Christmas. Of course, he's not old enough to appreciate all that comes with it. When it comes to presents on Christmas morning, I'm confident Cade will be content with some wrapping paper and maybe a bow. Thanks to GG, all four of us now have stockings, and they're hung by the chimney with care.
The only question is... what will Santa fill them with?

Christmastime wouldn't be complete without a Christmas tree. A few weeks ago, we set out to find one in the woods of El Dorado County. Handily, this tree farm was quite close to a very good winery.

Looks good, eh? (I mean the tree, of course.)

A few weeks later, Blake's preschool held its annual Christmas party. Here's a picture of Blake, with his class, eagerly but patiently, awaiting Santa's arrival.

Finally, the big man showed up!

Each kid got a chance to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what he or she wants this year. There were a few requests for dolls, cats, and skateboards. Blake told him he wants roller skates. Um....

Blake and Cade also got a chance to visit Santa in Old Sacramento. This was the best pic we could muster, but since this is Cade's first -- the photo was well worth it!

The boys also got to see Mrs. Claus before we all boarded the Polar Express!

All aboard!
Blake, Cade & Brandon (thank you to Aunt Veronica for the pics)
And last, but not least, we took one last trip into Old Sacramento for the Theatre of Lights.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

PEACE TO EVERYONE.
Love, the Beckers

Six of One, Half a Dozen of Another

As cliche as it sounds, it's hard to believe six months have passed since Cade came into the world. What an incredible baby. He's just a love, and he's pretty much happy all the time. He even sleeps pretty well at night.
I think Cade is most happy when he's around his big brother.

I think the feeling is mutual.

Aaaaaaaaawwwwwwww
Cade's also getting his first tooth. No picture yet, but believe me -- it's evident when he grabs your finger and bites. Ouch. Although, it probably hurts worse for him.
Even still, he's a happy little baby. Here's photographic evidence, with Cade's official 6-month pic.

Hoppy Halloween

Halloween has come and gone, and it was an eventful holiday for the Becker brothers.
We kicked the week off with our annual trip to the Pumpkin Patch.

There was the corn maze...

.... and a maze made of hay bales that seemed to be meant for Blake. He lead all of us through it, and seemed to really like the whole process of finding dead ends and then ultimately finding his way out the other side.
Check out the grin on his face.

We also went on a hay ride on the back of a tractor.

It was super windy that day...

...and really sunny. A halloween-themed portrait of our boys apparently was not meant to be.

A couple of days later, the kiddos got to go trunk-or-treating with Grandma and Papa.
This was the boys first time in their costumes.
It's hard to tell in the pics, but Cade's dressed as a little tadpole to go with Blake's froggy.

The next day, which was Halloween eve, the boys put their costumes back on and headed over to Dad's work to go trick-or-treating cubicle-style.

Ryan's office goes all out with decorations, candy, cookies, and a pizza party.

By the time actual Halloween rolled around, we were all a bit exhausted. We did go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood, of course, but it didn't last long, and I didn't get any pics. Oh well.
Blake's already talking about what he wants to be next year.

The First Five

Dear Family & Friends,

Life is good. I'm five months now, which means I'm not that far off from my first half birthday. Can't wait. Blake, will you help me celebrate?
The first five months have been interesting. Mom says I'm a good sleeper. I was sleeping through the night for a little while, but lately I've been getting hungry around 2am. I'm definitely getting bigger. Dad calls it a growth spurt.
My life's accomplishments already include rolling over, although Mom has yet to get it on video. Sheesh. I can't quite sit up on my own, but I'll keep trying. I do like to stand up in my exer-saucer. Check me out.

I also love the mirror. I'm not quite sure who that other baby is, but he seems friendly and I almost always smile when I see him.

On the day I turned five months, my family took a trip to some place called the pumpkin patch. We'll save those pictures for Mom's next blog, which will have a whole Halloween theme. In the meantime, scroll down for my official monthly photo followed by the previous months so you can see just how big I'm getting.

Love to all,

Cade J. Becker
