Time Flies When You're...

... the mother of two boys. Today marks one month since Cade was born. Seriously. That was a month ago.

Just as I did for his big brother, I'm tracking Cade's growth in a very official way: with the help of one of my first stuffed animals, Billy Bear. I think the pictures prove Cade is packing on the pounds. Or at least ounces.

See how he compares.

One Day
One Month

And because comparisons seem to be a theme with me lately, if you want to check out how Blake stacked up to Billy at one month, take a look here: http://blakethebaby.blogspot.com/2010/04/baby-blog.html

With the first month now in the books... er... blog, I can only conclude that while the individual days and nights may seem long, the months (and inevitable years) seem so short.

Sibling Similarities?

This past Friday, Cade officially weighed in at 7 lbs, 13 ounces -- just one ounce shy of Blake's birth weight. I am already finding it challenging NOT to compare my boys. They are so alike in some ways and different in others.
Can you tell which is which?
(Answers at the bottom. No cheating!)

ANSWER: Blake is on the left in each set of photos. Only fair, since he came first.

The Day Cade Came

We've had Cade at home for a week now. Here he is last Thursday, his first time in the car seat and totally wiped out from the whole birth experience.

But let me backup to the day Cade came into the world. Monday, May 27, 2013.
This blog entry -- as most are -- will be best told through pictures.

Just a few minutes old...
If you look closely at the monitor behind Cade, you can see he was born at 6 lbs, 12 ounces. A perfect little baby.

Still fresh, and already undergoing a lot of tests to make sure he is perfect. Still only moments old, and my little boy is passing every test with flying colors. Of course he is. Duh.

This was the first time I got to hold him. I fell in love immediately. What Mom wouldn't?

Cade's first bath. He liked it about as much as Blake did when he had his first bath. Look for another blog soon with some side-by-side pics to prove it.

After Cade got clean, his Dad took a turn keeping him calm. Dad has the magic touch. He still does, even more than a week later.

Cade's very first visitor in the recovery room was his big brother, Blake. Look how proud he is. Almost as proud as I am of both of them.

Cade also had more visitors in recovery, including Aunt Katy and his Great Grandma Sonya.

Once we were up in our room, Cade spent a lot of time doing this. But isn't he beautiful?

When you take off the blanket and look at my hand, you get a sense for just how tiny this kiddo is. Tiny, but still perfect.

The first Becker family portrait. I love it.

And this is Cade a few days later, in his going home outfit. Ready to take on the real world.
And so far, Cade has made my world even better than it already was.
