Three of A Kind

I can't believe Cade is three months old already. Have I mentioned how much faster time flies when I am not pregnant? These past three months have not only been quick, they've been... well... three of a kind.

Cade's first month was, likely for him, simply about familiarity. Oh, this is what it's like on the outside. This is what air feels like; this is where I live; this is where I get my food. That sort of thing.

His second month probably brought clarity. Oh, I can actually control the movement of my arms and legs. This energetic kid is my brother. I am a Giants fan. Ceiling fans are the most fascinating things I've ever seen. Of course in a baby's second month, ceiling fans are still one of the only things a baby can see.

Staring at the ceiling fan

I'm happy to say that in Cade's third month, he has really become an expressive little baby. Lots of smiles. Lots of coos and other sorts of baby talk. Even a few laughs lately, which is awesome.

Happy baby
And, of course, he is getting bigger. The proof, as I always say, is in the pictures.

Three Months

Two Months

One Month
One Day

Between a 3-month-old, a 3-year-old, two dogs and two very busy parents, I think it's fair to say we definitely have a full house.

FAIRy Tale

This summer is flying by, and the boys and I have kept ourselves busy. A few weeks ago, we went to the State Fair with Grandma Lynne and Papa. I suspect Blake had the best time of all of us.
After all, there were lots of fun rides...

Piloting his own airplane
Running up the stairs of the fun house with Papa
One of Blake's faves -- the carousel
Cade, of course, is too little for the rides, but he managed to wear himself out anyway.

There was also plenty of fair food.

And Blake got up close and personal with some new farm friends.

We also got a good tour of the fairgrounds high in the sky on the monorail.
It was Cade's first train ride, of sorts, but I don't think he got the full experience. Zzzzzzzzzz.

It won't be too much longer before our summer fun officially comes to an end. Blake will go back to school full-time, and I will go back to work. But with all the good times we've had this summer, I suppose that's fair enough.

Pool Boy

Our big boy is turning into a big-time swimmer. Which is good because you have to know how to swim before you can learn to SCUBA dive or water ski. Blake's taken two weeks of swimming lessons, and he's about to get two more.
This was his first day before he even jumped in.

He's learning how to kick (only in the water, not his brother!).
No paddle board
A week later, with the paddle board
Blake likes the pool, but I think he likes the chaise lounge just as much.

And it's not just time spent swimming, Blake has also gotten quite comfortable getting out of the pool on his own and jumping right back in.

At the end of each class, his teacher tells him he is a super swimmer!
His mommy couldn't be more proud.

As for Cade, his towel is ready, and it won't be long before he gets his turn to make a splash.
