Terrible 2s

Terrible, as in how terrible of me to be so late to blog about Cade's two month mark in life, which was this past Saturday. I am reminded how quickly time passes with a newborn.
But my new one is anything but terrible.

It didn't take two months for Cade to start smiling. Facial expressions like this started a few weeks ago.
He makes my heart melt every day.

Cade paid a visit to the doctor yesterday for his two-month checkup.

Stats:
11 lbs, 7 oz
23.5 inches

Here are the official month-marking pictures.

A Giant Baby!

No, Cade didn't suddenly gain a bunch of weight. As most of you probably figured out, the title of this blog is a reference to Cade's favorite baseball team. Earlier this week, he went to his first two games -- two days in a row.

Official Giants Family Portrait
Proof!
Remember? Blake got one a few years ago, too.

Cade's first game was Sunday. At Sunday home games, the Giants invite the kids to run the bases after the 9th. Cade's a little too young, but here goes Blake and his dad.

Cade had such a good time Sunday, I also took him to the game on Monday.

This time, we brought Aunt Katy. It was her first game, so Cade was already one up on her.
At least she knew to sport the orange & black.

As you saw from the pictures, Sunday's game was a day game. But Monday's game was a night game.
Or in this case, a night-night game.

Both boys fell asleep. But who could blame them??? The game went 16 innings!

Cade has plenty of Giants gear, but once he gets just a little bit bigger (more Giant?), I can't wait to put him in this new onesie. Thanks to our friends Brian & Katie Neal for the fun baby gift!

Notice I haven't mentioned Cade's effect on the Giants' record? I'm not going to.
Win or lose, taking my boys to Giants games will obviously be a fun family tradition.
And as I have said before, going with family certainly makes for a perfect game.

Let It B

The letter B is definitely shaping up to bBlake's favorite letter, and it's easy to see why. His name is Blake Becker. He loves baseball. His favorite baseball team is managed by Bruce Bochy. And his favorite berries are blueberries. Lately, he's gotten a number of new things, all of which also start with the letter B.

There's his new baby brother, of course.

And check out Blake's new bed. Eventually this will be the bottom bed on a set of bunks. Blake even helped his Daddy build them.

He also got a new bike -- a present for becoming a big brother.

Blake recently took his first walk on the beach. It was miserable weather, but that didn't stop him from playing in the sand with his blue bucket.

And this past weekend, Blake took his first trip to the box office to see a movie on the big screen.

By the way...
this blog was brought to you by the letter B.

Time Flies When You're...

... the mother of two boys. Today marks one month since Cade was born. Seriously. That was a month ago.

Just as I did for his big brother, I'm tracking Cade's growth in a very official way: with the help of one of my first stuffed animals, Billy Bear. I think the pictures prove Cade is packing on the pounds. Or at least ounces.

See how he compares.

And because comparisons seem to be a theme with me lately, if you want to check out how Blake stacked up to Billy at one month, take a look here: http://blakethebaby.blogspot.com/2010/04/baby-blog.html

With the first month now in the books... er... blog, I can only conclude that while the individual days and nights may seem long, the months (and inevitable years) seem so short.

Sibling Similarities?

This past Friday, Cade officially weighed in at 7 lbs, 13 ounces -- just one ounce shy of Blake's birth weight. I am already finding it challenging NOT to compare my boys. They are so alike in some ways and different in others.
Can you tell which is which?
(Answers at the bottom. No cheating!)

The Day Cade Came

We've had Cade at home for a week now. Here he is last Thursday, his first time in the car seat and totally wiped out from the whole birth experience.

But let me backup to the day Cade came into the world. Monday, May 27, 2013.
This blog entry -- as most are -- will be best told through pictures.

Just a few minutes old...
If you look closely at the monitor behind Cade, you can see he was born at 6 lbs, 12 ounces. A perfect little baby.

Still fresh, and already undergoing a lot of tests to make sure he is perfect. Still only moments old, and my little boy is passing every test with flying colors. Of course he is. Duh.

This was the first time I got to hold him. I fell in love immediately. What Mom wouldn't?

Cade's first bath. He liked it about as much as Blake did when he had his first bath. Look for another blog soon with some side-by-side pics to prove it.

After Cade got clean, his Dad took a turn keeping him calm. Dad has the magic touch. He still does, even more than a week later.

Cade's very first visitor in the recovery room was his big brother, Blake. Look how proud he is. Almost as proud as I am of both of them.

Cade also had more visitors in recovery, including Aunt Katy and his Great Grandma Sonya.

Once we were up in our room, Cade spent a lot of time doing this. But isn't he beautiful?

When you take off the blanket and look at my hand, you get a sense for just how tiny this kiddo is. Tiny, but still perfect.

The first Becker family portrait. I love it.

And this is Cade a few days later, in his going home outfit. Ready to take on the real world.
And so far, Cade has made my world even better than it already was.
